Anne Bengard was born in Leipzig in 1988 and started studying Performance Design at the renowned Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London in 2007. At the same time, she started working as a set and event stylist, becoming part of the colourful alternative scene of London nightlife. Driven by intentional irony and a playful sense of humour, Anne’s works service the ideas and juxtapositions of fear, eroticism, and the grotesque.
Since returning to Berlin in 2014, Anne has specialised in figurative, large-sized, pop-watercolour portraits, surveying societal norms, trends, and prejudices.
In 2016, she was selected to appear in Jennifer Rostock’s music video “Hengstin” (female stallion) as one of 13 female protagonists working in industries dominated by men.
